Why?

Posted by Shawn

There are many reasons that I am starting this blog, which I will likely get into later.

Suffice it to say that The Simpleton Thinker will be dedicated to my studies in God's Word.

I'm sure, little snippets of personal info that seem relevant to me at the time will find there way in every now and then as well. I'll try to keep that to a minimum though, as everyone else in the world has a life too and I'm sure that what's happening to me each moment of the day is of far less interest to someone reading this blog than what's happening to them.

Principally, I'm looking to get into blogging in order to write, teach, and recommend. Oh yeah, and to get myself to stop blasting my friends with emails whenever I have a stray thought.

Anyway, I hope that you have a chance to check out the blog every now and then and participate. Of course, I want everyone to agree with me, but more importantly, I want to be challenged. I won't grow any more than anyone would else if I chum only with the egotistical and self-gratulatory yes-man within of the echo-chamber of my own thoughts.

It's very important to remember, however, that disagreement must be respectful, regardless of how passionate it may be.

I'd also suggest that you check out John Piper's thoughts for some further reasons to start a blog. (Which are still applicable even if, like me, you're not a pastor.)
