A recent TeamPyro post led me to the latest fad "revival" supposedly happening down in Florida these days. Intellectually, it's pretty clear how spiritually blind the world is and how undiscerning the majority are in the things of God, yet it's still an amazing thing to behold when whole sports stadiums are filled with those who are happily led to the slaughter by such obvious fools.
Also, in the comments thread of the post, a question arose around a hypothetical scenario in which a person actually comes to a saving knowledge of Christ. The question basically wondered whether that would legitimize in some way this false revival. When I read the question, my first thoughts went to John Bunyon's allegory, The Pilgrim's Progress. Particularly in regards to good Christian and Hopeful's experience with Mr. By-Ends. The same basic question and answer, however it was differently worded, was put to them by Mr. By-Ends, Mr. Hold-the-World, Mr. Money-Love and Mr. Save-All. I won't recount what you can clearly read, so I encourage you to read or re-examine this dialog. Christian's reply is well said and aptly applied.
BTW, Dan Phillip's point is well taken. We don't need to consult experience or worldy knowledge and reason to know the truth of a matter. The first and last stop is ALWAYS the scriptures. Anything that runs counter to that is a lie and we need look no further. Experience does not explain and support the truth of Word of God, but rather it's quite the opposite.
